Interfacing Quick Guide

Here is a quick guide to help you figure out which interfacing is best for your projects.

Fusible Nonwoven(made with synthetic fibers) interfacing

  • Light to medium, stable( doesn’t distort when fused, used to make a sharp fold line. Great for zipper pockets)- use Pellon 808 Craft Fuse, Vilene S320, Pellon 950F ShirTalor
  • Heavy- (Thin, cardboard-like, excellent for making structured bags and bases)Pellon 520 Deco Fuse, Pellon 808 craft-fuse
  • Stiff (looks like compressed fleece, great for bag bases)- fast2fuse Heavy(fusible on both sides), Peltex 71f, 72f

Fusible Woven(made with woven fibers) Interfacing

  • Light-Any brand that is fusible gauze-weight woven fabric base
  • Medium/light- Pellon SF101

Fusible Fleece

  • Light- fusible warm fleece 1
  • Medium- Pellon 987F(adds loft to your bags, its great in combination with interfacing because the interfacing flattens the fabric and the fleece adds a little puffiness and loft)

Webbing (a film of plastic fibers on parchment paper, controllable and holds fabric together before stitching)

  • Steam-A-Seam or HeatnBond
